I tried to play UTr with my friend just to show him how good it is as LAN game. But I could not create a server for LAN. Have I missed something? Please help. I want to try playing it as LAN game becos server line is lag and connection interruption always shown.

i think if you search the forum for server setup you will find some toturials/howto start your own 'server' for lan gameplay. But via the menu in urbanterror you should be able to get a long way. Be sure to allow the firewall to allow incoming connections on the server pc.

- start game
- start server
- you play in it
- tell others to /connect <your ip> (or maybe also a hostname)
if you don't know your ip in a lan on windows:
- start
- run..
- 'cmd'
- 'ipconfig'
it's the 'ipv4 address'
- start server
- you play in it
- tell others to /connect <your ip> (or maybe also a hostname)
if you don't know your ip in a lan on windows:
- start
- run..
- 'cmd'
- 'ipconfig'
it's the 'ipv4 address'
- Optimized exe; builds of ioq3 engine for urt With GoogleTranslate, Bumpy, dmaHD, iKALiZER, Raw Mouse, Bug Fixes, ..
- Networking, lag meter, and gaming consistency guide

I had tried your method but could not get connected.
/connect 192.168.100.201
Awaiting connection 1 ...... until 100 ---. no connection
May be need to do some setting on server file?

see if a firewall on the router is blocking communication between the computers; i also had a router that had a bug that didn't allow communication across the lan and a firmware update fixed it.

I c/p the following text fron Urt Manual:
Windows Server Install Guide
First of all you need to acquire the Urban Terror installer. You can download this form many mirrors listed on the main Urban Terror website. Once you have downloaded this file, install it as per the instructions along with the installer.
Once you have installed Urban Terror go to the Urban Terror directory. This is by default c:\Program Files\Urban Terror. You will then see a q3ut4 directory. Go into this folder and you should see a lot of files. One is called the server.cfg. Edit this file to the required settings (this is covered later in this manual).
To run your server go back to the Urban Terror directory where you saw the q3ut4 directory. You should see the file ioUrTded.exe, RIGHT click drag this to your desktop and create a shortcut.
Once you have your shortcut, right click on it and go to properties. Find the field called "target".
It should look like this
"C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror\ioUrTded.exe"
Change it to
"C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror\ioUrTded.exe" +seta net_port <port> +exec <configname>
"C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror\ioUrTded.exe" +seta net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg
Now you can click the shortcut and run the game!
Running ioUrbanTerror
Unzip the UrbanTerror installer. Edit the server.cfg and mapcycle.txt in the q3ut4 folder to your desired settings and start the server with the following arguments: +exec server.cfg. For servers running Windows, you use ioUrTded.exe for servers running Linux use ioUrTded.i386.
If you cant make a server by just clicking server in urt menu, try this, and set password, I is not the same, but it will work.
