well... assuming you have the password... bring down the console with ~ and type this:

/password whateverthepasswordis
/connect 128.0.0.1:12345 (use whatever the IP and port for that server it)

it worked :) thanks again

---------------

by the way is there any way to have urban terror to run these two commands every time on startup?
i only connect to a specific server that has a password that never changes.

you could add the things you just typed to your autoexec.cfg
Open it in autoexec.cfg in notepad (it's in your Urban Terror folder), and add these lines:
password whateverpassword is
connect ipandport

Sorry, Caps-Lock broke there for a minute.

do i have to "tell" the application to look at the cfg (like servers need with the +exec server.cfg thing) ?

Solved : you need to 'tell' the application to do it with +exec autoexec.cfg

No you don't.
autoexec.cfg is executed automatically on startup. Only if you chose another name for the config, you need to add +exec config.cfg

The slightly shorter form used to connect to a passworded server is :-

/connect ip:port; password whatever

i.e. add the password command on the end separated by a semi-colon.

This is used a lot in IRC when passing server details for matches, just CTRL-C to copy the line from IRC and then CTRL-V to paste it into the console in-game.

it doesn't work without the +exec autoexec.cfg for me - it does if i put it there.
the name is definitely autoexec.cfg too.
