Server crashes Rate Topic: -----

each time after a few minutes

Hi,

Sometimes I need to set up my own server for ~10 people. I don't launch ioUrtDed, just /map command in-game.

Well, it worked well in 4.1.1, but now, when we are all playing for a few minutes, my UrT immediately crashes very badly - I have to turn it off with Task Manager and set proper gamma in video card's driver, because it stays bright in Windows (I have high r_gamma in UrT).

/auth_enable is set to 0 and /hunk_alloc to 512.


System: Windows 7 32bit
Processor: Intel Core i5
Video: ATI Radeon HD6000 family

Something similar (?) happens every 10 minutes more or less on my (dedicated) server and it crashes (sever disconnetted). Is it the same problem?

I too am getting server crashes but they seem to be related to bots (which are technically unsupported). I have not experienced one of these crashes when bot_enable was set to 0.

If you set bot_enable to 0 on the server will it still crash?

Yes, this definitely happens when bot_enable = 0 and when third party maps are removed, which were the two biggest culprits for 4.1 crashes. This seems to be a new bug. Barbatos indicated they think it may be related to the new hitmesh code.

I confirm bot_enable = 0 and no third party maps in /q3ut4

Could you please provide us a release date for the update. I have switched back to 4.1.1 because there is no way I can run 10 servers per day with 5 to 7 crashes per day per server. Before you fix anything else you should resolve the server crashes. Without a stable build you will continue to see players revert to 4.1.

I know that FS say "it's ready when it's ready" but Ronaldlee question is important. Not because we want to push dev team to issue a 002 version, but just to estimate if in the meanwhile it is better to switch back to 4.1.1 or not. Just to understand if it is one week, one month, or six month...
