edit: this is from barbados's github. idk if that's even a proper version or not.

Download and extract into your MinGW installation latest DirectX headers and libs: http://www.libsdl.or...tx-devel.tar.gz
If it still does not work add -DWINVER=0x0501 to BASE_CFLAGS in Makefile, line 449.

thanks, the cflags thing worked. i was looking for a command like that, but had no idea what would control input stuff.

now i'm getting engine linkage errors when I try to change some stuff. i guess qvm has some sort of validity checking?

When do you get the errors? During compilation phase or game runtime? You managed to compile vanilla sources, but it won't compile after changes? I don't think there is validity checking like that. Please provide errors you get.

oh everything compiles fine. but only the stock build will actually load maps. if i do any "significant" modifications to the code, I get engine linkage errors. I don't want to post about what i'm doing here, since it will probably be deleted. Anyway, the modifications I've tried to make in 4.2 work perfectly fine in 4.1. I can probably do this another way, but a modified client binary is honestly the cleanest, easiest method.

anyway, here's an example error:

I got a similar error when I tried to load 4.2 using my modified 4.1 test build.

if u need more details, pm me. i'm sure if i talk to much here, this thread will go byebye
