This is a private dedicated server intended for league play. We have been unable to use it because as the title says, auth will not turn on. This is an unmodified server binary with no additional pk3's. This is the command line:

./Quake3-UrT-Ded.i386 +set fs_game q3ut4 +set dedicated 1 +set com_hunkmegs 128 +set net_ip 74.91.123.190 +set net_port 27970 +exec serverdef.cfg

serverdef.cfg is an example server config taken from the forums here. Here it is: http://www.pasteall.org/46146

The server output upon startup is as follows: http://www.pasteall.org/46147

broadcast: print "Server: auth_status changed to off (local)\n"

I'm guessing the server needs to be launched with +set dedicated 2, so that heartbeats are being sent, in order to get auth working. You can then make it private by setting g_password

Set auth_notoriety to 1 in the server config if you want to enforce auth (no one unauthed can connect).

Try adding

74.91.123.190 dbny

to /etc/hosts

The problem is indicated with IP: 127.0.0.1 line in your log (to be specific lack of other routable IP addresses). Auth is off when binding to local or private range address.

So you guys are telling me that +set dedicated 1 is not supported by the auth system, and +set net_ip 74.91.123.190 is being ignored?

EDIT:

Sorry fruk, you are wrong. Changing the IP in /etc/hosts does nothing.

thelionroars you are correct, changing dedicated to 2 solves the issue. I was under the impression that private servers should be set to 1 so they don't appear in the server list, but I understand why this is not the case. Thank you.
