1. don't teamkill
2. learn how to circle jump
since iksiorin mentioned healing:
if you are the one receiving treatment, don't stare at the medic, provide cover instead, turn your back on your medic

The following are things that I'd have loved to know about when I started 7 years ago:

- Circle jumping
- Even just doing it badly will make you good.
- Learn basic jumps on maps - If not useful they make you feel awesome. :>

- Crouch when healing, so he/she can cover you 360 degrees
- Either walk (to be silent) or jump (to move fast)
- just running makes you an easy target, loud and slow.
- Turn off mouse-acceleration

Hey there! I just decided to get into playing as well!
Known about the game for a fair bit now as I often look for cool and amazing Freeware and/or Open Source projects.
The things people make that they don't even sell, its amazing. Straight up, amazing.
Very much looking forward to Urban Terror HD, in the mean time..
