maybe the server just moved?
or the preferred route to the server changed to the worse?
or you did some an updates to your system that caused this?

also the question is if only your ping increased, or your latency increased overall ( i suppose the later as mostly there is a rather strong correlation, besides you probably wouldnt care if it had no impact on gameplay?)
Sorry for my bad spelling - I am still asleep. :)

well, if you have a feeling of lag/increased times until a hit gets confirmed its probably an increase in latency overall.
but if your ping increased on basically every server, its probably neither the server, nor the route to the server.

thus its probably a problem with your ISP. maybe too many people start watching netflix in your region. :)

I have two suggestions for you

1) Make sure no-one at your location is streaming/downloading video

2) Get the servers IP address and do a traceroute to find out how you are getting to the server you want, then look up each step (whois/dig etc) to find out if it is the most direct route.

To get the route:
traceroute <IP Address>

For each step in the route:
whois <IP Address>

Then check out a map of the international cables (http://www.submarinecablemap.com/) between you and your target and see if you a taking an unnecessarily long route.

I had this problem recently when I discovered that my traffic from Australia to the USA was going via Asia/HongKong, even though we have a direct route via the Southern Cross Cable. My ISP owned the AU->HK cable so they sent all USA bound traffic over it, rather than pay to use the Southern Cross Cable.

To get around it, I started using a VPN to connect to a POP Sydney, at a provider that uses the cable that I wanted. My ping went from 275ms down to 175ms, and it cost AU$8/month for the VPN to do it.

Note my ISP could not answer the most basic questions about this, I made a post in the whirlpool forums here: https://forums.whirl...s.cfm?t=2601031 to get an answer.

I am only going to use this until I am set up with a new ISP :-)

good luck
