Hmm, I thought the planting sound already existed - Well, that shows how much I'm around when the opposing team is planting. xD

But yeah, adding sounds to various movements will possibly change various things, if good or not is a question to then be answered by investigation.

No?
Incomming means that an enemy push is imminent, while enemy heard might just be an enemy behind a wall you heard and want to replay to your teammates. Enemy spotted is more than heard as well, as it implies you actually saw something

Depends on the game mode. In CTF, "incoming" would mean that attackers are near the flag, whereas "enemy heard" means you're near the enemy, but could be anywhere on the map.

I'm not personally very good at identifying where these sounds are coming from (I don't know the names of locations on maps and the mini-map takes a while for me to decipher), so a lot of audio is wasted on me (coupled with the amount of spam on there). However, with "incoming" I know what to do (if I'm able).


I know it goes against "fun over realism", plus the opinion of a lot of players, but I like ambient noise in UrT. In some warzone maps, for example, there's a lot of background firing and cannons. I get why tactically people don't like it, but I find it more immersive (I do play more for entertainment over competitive play though).

I love ambient sounds in maps. A gust of wind, some birds chirping, cars zooming, etc. I would like it if sometimes it's not always there, but comes and goes seemingly randomly. Also, if the same location could have different sounds at different times it adds flavor because then it's not the same sound each and every time. Also, if there could be multiple ambient sounds that come and go at different intervals so that sometimes they all play together and the area is more noisy, and other times they aren't playing so it's more quiet. There's a lot to be said for ambient sounds in my opinion. I don't want to play some sterile shooter devoid of all character and style. One idea I had is that if a certain area of the map hasn't had any players come through in a while, some ambient noise increases there until it reaches some set max volume. Like some marketplace background chatter noise maybe. Then, if a player runs through, the noise cuts out. That way a player would know if anyone has been there recently.

I think that maintaining(and expanding) the ability to learn a lot about the enemy from the sounds he makes is important, different levels of heavy breathing depending on stamina, different sounds of pain depending on the amount of damage taken, slightly different sounds for wallrunning, walljumps and normal walking and sprinting. Stuff like that really raises the skill ceiling and opens up a lot of game play.

I dont really care much about radio commands, make them usuable without obstructing my view(ie. not a radial menu in the middle of the screen or atleast a bare bones simple one) and keep "Thanks!", "I need a medic!" and "High".
