Login problem related to firewall

My UT is not able to log in till I switch off my firewall.
I tried opening ports all the way from 27950 to 27985 and it worked.
But I do not like keeping so many ports open.
Do we have to open these ports or is there some other problem ?

opening ports 27900, 27951, 27960 allows to access the auth server and list and join game servers :)

leaving this here in case anyone else has these issues (the linked post is hard to g**gle by ;)
