Urban Terror Resurgence will be completely free to play
Urban Terror Resurgence will require Steam to play
Urban Terror Resurgence may offer "Non-Game-Altering" bling. This however will not be the worked on AT ALL until Resurgence is available to play on Steam.
We wish to make a REAL community based completely free game. Made as a Hobby (so with no funding). No publish contracts and no team mentality to break the game through "selling out".
Free, for all to enjoy, forever!

War is hell, that's why "fun over realism".
CoD/Bf/MoH is "let's fake realism and pretend it's fun".

Wow.
I did not really understand the content of this post and I assume, but this part is really not clear to me.
FrozenSand Games, Frozensand Games Limited, FrozenSand, Frozen Sand, etc. Is it not the same thing ? I mean the name of a team working on the development of a game ?

Frozen Sand Ltd was a company based in Canada because at the time of the development of 4.1 (and before) they wanted to make sure the assets of the game (maps, textures, source code, etc) would belong to a company rather than a single person, and it would bring them more freedom at the time in terms of legal stuff.
Now they decided to base themselves in the UK (with European/British law) to have as much freedom legally as before but it would be much easier for them to be based in the UK considering the amount of people in FS who live in Europe and it seems some of them got charged with higher responsibilities in the company (Barbatos, Raider, Blapecool, etc. whereas RabidCow and Bladekiller were mainly responsible before).
What I don't understand is why they created two companies rather than relocating the first one to the UK (maybe RabidCow didn't want to? :D) which makes it also weird that they have to buy back their own assets too. Perhaps it's less paperwork.
They had to name the company "FrozenSand GAMES" because you can't just have the same name as another company (at least not within Common Wealth countries). It's the same people but just two different incorporeal entities for the sake of changing address.

Simply put RC and BK wish to return to working on the content and art assets but BK is still in place as the team leader so with Raider taking over the business aspect re-balances the workload as the person who has the best resources to do so.
As Raider has kind of mentioned switching to the Unreal 4 engine has open license and copyright possibilities as to fair use that allows for the use of CC0 as well as MIT licensed content as well as fair use of assets licensed under Epic's terms and conditions as well as limited license of commercial products and assets not compatible with GPL licensing or the EULA license which we are kind of stuck with the use idtech3 engine. (it's a long and messy story but lets just say id is reallyyyyyy no more ;) )
Art and asset wise we really don't care if we "own" the rights as in ownership based on origin of creation just fair use as to compatibility with Epic's UE4 license.
In other words with UE4 we can now accept contributions as a donation under better fair use conditions, with the provider maintaining full copyrights and IP ownership, that is not possible with UrT/idtech3/GPL due to compatibility issues.

The reason we are called "Frozensand Games" and simply not "Frozensand", for the record both a legally available. Is because in the history of Urban Terror, Frozensand LLC used to exist. All be it this was an American Registered company, it's genuinely a good idea to make all efforts to make sure a legal entity is different from another.
In regards to the Canadian Company (IP / Assets / Etc), it was far easier to Incorporate and Transfer those assets.
I am British, it is not allowed for me, nor is it legally wise for me to be in a position as a director for that company. I am however comfortable with this in my Country of residence, as this means that should I be required to attend court, that would be applicable under UK law and reasonably easy for me to attend any court or hearing as required.
Really, it's all just very boring company stuff that has to exist for the protection of our IP and our contributors (the team).
TeamFS or FS or Frozensand are all still exactly the same. The only difference is now this team is owned and operated by Frozensand Games Limited (the Company).
I hope that clears that all up.
