UT4.3.1 crashes on Win7 after/with firing-Sound Rate Topic: -----

Hi.
The crashes occur after gaming for a while (maybe 30 Min, maybe some hours).
Suddenly game is freezing if I shoot at someone (ERVERY-TIME if it crashes!).

I use DriverMax for the newest drivers on Win7.
I just downloaded a new copy of 4.3.1 and put only my
-auth
-my config
-my autoexec in

I try to start with log-file [Quake3-UrT.exe +set logfile 1], but the game logs only the chatting and nothing useful if it crashes (logging stops at the same moment, and I need processViewer to kill the game).

Crash only with 4.3.1
With 4.2 everything runs fine.
Any idea?

Could you "pinpoint" any specific situations that happened in? Did you switch servers/maps in between?

While i have no idea what is in detail, dont. Even more so for graphics cards. Mobile cards e.g. will have a bad time when "updated" to the wrong drivers. Its even suggested to not download the drivers from the GPU manufacturer, but from the notebook manufacturer instead. Nvidia and AMD both have a tool that will automatically update/notify you about graphics updates, and i would always prefer that to any 3rd party software.

Post it anyways. maybe also set r_verbose "1", which should make the graphics logging verbose. On a sidenote: "code" wrappers are nice (monofont and stuff), but please also contain them in a [spoiler] to not flood the entire page. Alternatively, try and record a demo. Maybe it breaks and cant be replayed (maybe replaying it even breaks the game...), but possibly it shows what happened before the crash.

Have you tried this recently? Because there were some changes from 4.2 to 4.3, still this would allow to rule out its an issue outside of UrT.


Copying over auth and configs is fine.

Hmmm ironically, I've had this issue myself this week. Where the game would freeze when hitting somebody after playing for a while (seems first time over an hour, after reconnecting a lot quicker like 15 mins). My computer is quite decent (gtx1080, i7 4770 w. 16GB memory) and it can run modern games like assassins creed origins, doom, battlefield for hours on end without ever crashing. It occured to me only on the 24/7 eagle server where I reconnected a few times, but every time it crashed after a while. Played a few hours yesterday without any issues though. This is in 4.3.2 on windows 10. After the last crash, I went to another way more demanding game and it ran without any issue.

Mind you, this is on a server that does not stop the round after any given time or frag amount, so maybe that has something to do with it ? Dunno what the OP's scenario was where it went wrong.
