As the other day I was talking to someone about the possibility that CRT might have a much better response time than any LCD out there. And the conversation led to resolutions I began to think of how loss of verticality was forced upon the nothing-suspecting (as usual) players. Monitors back in the day, crt or lcd got 1280 by 1024 as a resolution standard which is pretty much square. Today the standard is 1920x1080. Horizontal rectangle with almost 2:1 ratio.
No wonder that most games nowadays abandoned jumping as a valid action that player do.
