ok im running linux mint
and when i launch ut, it starts up fine and runs fine
for anywhere from 2 mins to 20 mins with no issues at all
then out of the blue for no apparent reason the screen blinks
and ut goes from full screen to a small minimized version
its not from hitting any buttons on keypad
and when it happens i can bring up the menu in the game
go to system, and just hit "apply", and it will restore itself to full screen
but it just keeps happening over and over

does anyone have any idea what causes this?

thanks
confused

also, just to be clear make sure you are not pressing ALT + ENTER together at any point as this is a combination that will changed the game from full screen to window mode and vice versa.

im pretty sure my drivers are up to date
and im not hitting any buttons that would cause this
sometimes im not touching anything, just sitting at idle
and it still does it
now its doing something new
the whole computer just shuts itself of instantly
no logging off, or shut down proses..just off instantly!!

very weird

If you have any 3d desktop effects enabled try the game again with them disabled.

Also are you overclocking your pc at all? CPU, GPU etc if not then your pc maybe overheating.

thanks for the update deathman, there are still options available to try to resolve the problem.

If you believe your laptop is overheating and its still within its warranty period then the first thing you should try is contacting the manufacturer to have them inspect the laptop and resolve any issues found.

If you are out with your warranty period, then the manufacturer will most like charge for this service so you may wish to still discuss it with them first incase the price is acceptable to yourself.

if not then there are a few things you can do to generally help keep your laptop cooler whilst gaming.

1. Place the laptop on a flat surface in an open area where there is plenty of space around the laptop for it to ventilate itself properly. Using pillow cases or sitting the laptop on a bed is not recommended as the soft fabrics tend to block the ventilation ports.

2. There are products available that you can buy to sit your laptop on which allows the laptop to get better airflow around it. they also typically have a small fan built into them to target a higher amount of air flow to the laptop's base.

3. There are some software solutions provided by laptop manufacturers that allow you to manually adjust your laptops internal fan speed, if such an option is available, you could manually increase the fan speed whilst you game to help cool the hotter components faster.

4. Ambient room temperature can play apart in the overall temperature of your laptop, if you play whilst in a hot area perhaps opening a window, or usings a desk fan could help also.

there is also a free program called "SPECCY" from www.piriform.com which will allow you to monitor your laptops processor temps allowing you to be more informed about how hot your laptop actually is.

thanks and good luck. :)

Vacuum cleaning the ventilation holes from my laptop fixed the problem for me.
