Bah, a lot of times I'm a 'heavy duty sr8 user', and I don't use any press and hold bind. I play WASD movement. Z is zoom in, X is zoom out (which i don't use much), and C is zoom reset. mwheeldown is weaptoggle secondary sidearm, and that's what I use to zoom out most of the time (so, when I zoom out I switch from Sr8 to my secondary or sidearm (I don't always have a secondary but I DO always have a sidearm), and then I go back to the sr8 (using mwheel up which is weaptoggle primary). The C zoom reset is for if I need to silently completely unzoom (because switching weapons makes noise) Zoom reset of course puts you to no zoom regardless of what zoom level you are on.
Come to think of it, I do use X zoom out if I'm really camping a spot and need to quickly zoom out from 3x or 2x to 1 less to see more stuff (but when I don't want to go all the way out for fear of losing my bead on the potential target).
It's a bit awkward I guess, and if you could actual use an SR8 while moving a lot or jumping, then it would be bad since I can't fully use my movement keys at the same time, but I pretty much can, there's just a split second when i move down to hit those keys...
Other than that, I use FOV 90. Anything higher would make it too hard to see enemies in the distance.

yeh, after having tried just setting a zoom in and zoom reset button, I have learned the err of my ways...the press and hold zoom isn't that great.

I've tried it with mixed success.
When I make MOUSE2 the press and hold button it works well but I feel more comfortable MOUSE2 for jumping
