I am wanting to build and start a gaming server.
Anyone know of a good tutorial on building a gaming server?
Can a gaming server host more then one games/mods?
What type of connection would a server need?
I appreciate if anyone can help me out. Thanks.

you need:
1) a spare computer with inet connection.
2) a good stable connection with a good stable upload, a T1 or better will do.
3) a good chunk of space cpu time and memory.
4) have a server set up
www.gameadmins.com has some good guides.
it is nice to run a decent OS for your gameserver (such as linux), since this makes adminning a LOT easyer (once you know the OS offcourse).
personally I run 3 servers (2 private, 1 public) on:
- amd athlon xp 1800+ thingie
- 512 MB ram
- 100/100 mbit connection
I could run more but that would require more cpu power (and more memory). As it stands now if all 3 servers are at full load they use about 60% off the cpu, and since I use the server for more then just gameservers I'd like to keep it that way.
