Why check for cg_thirdperson??
Why check for gamma/intensity/overbrightstuff?
Why check for snaps?
Why check that fps is without 0.000001 to 29?
why check for packetdup?
why check for maxpackets?
why check for freelook?
THey are all cvars that are already locked by Urt or do no harm...

Agreed, but there is a better way to let someone know they are doing something wrong. I would have said something like, "you need to change these cvars because they are no longer or never have been usefull"...then explain the way they should have been.
