well the gametype, I believe, is decided by the players, after you hit .join you can hit .vote ctf or ts or ffa and so on.

Ok, I'm new at UrT Pug and was wondering if someone could explain things a little. For instance, I joined a game, got the server IP and password and everything, joined the game only to find 10 players already there and be told I "joined too late".

Obviously you joined late. Usually everyone's in 1-2 minutes after the IP and password are sent; that's on a good day. Sometimes 5-10 minutes lol, especially when ringers are needed to fill slots of late joiners/no shows. Configure your IRC client to flash the taskbar icon when you receive a query (PM). (Go download mIRC; www.mirc.com) People don't want to wait around for 10 minutes for one player, when it's only going to be a 20 minute game.

I would do it but I ping 250-400 on US servers and around 230 on European ones
