Due to the level boards being split there will now some rules put into place

1 thread per map
This means that If you have ut4_banana_b1 then next week you release ut4_banana_b2, all you do is update your first post from the thread named ut4_banana_b1. DO NOT create multiple threads

Thread names
to keep threads easily manageable how about we introduce a new thread naming scheme
at the end of your threads name please leave either 1 of the categories put in place at the end
these include
  • Beta
  • WIP (work in progress, mainly to show some screenies, not a release)
  • Release

eg.
ut4_banana [BETA]
ut4_banana [WIP]
ut4_banana [RELEASE]

Thread layout
this does not apply to all and is not compulsory but Is recommended to follow if you want your map to be downloaded by more people
here is a good example to follow

-----
ut4_banana [RELEASE]

Hello Urban Terror comunity,
I present to you my # map named ut4_###

*map description*
eg dl link and size of the map/pk3

*screenshots*
(at least 2-4 is plenty)

*readme*(optional)
this isnt really included but if you do include this
throw it inside code parameters so it doesnt take up the whole page =)

*conclusion/thanks*

[glow=beige,2,300]also, avoid use of over coloring and glow effects[/glow]
it gets annoying ;)

mods/anyone feel free to add anything :)

What if you have it in WIP and then in RELEASE?

If it is a WIP
it only has preview pictures and some details.

If it is a BETA
you would release it with _b1 or_beta1 etc on the end and people would expect another release from you later on

If it is a RELEASE
it is the final version and no other versions will come after it

whats the problem with people making a topic for each release?

i like being able to type ut4_boxtrot in the search and have it list each version.

every version i put out is meant to be hosted forever, if someone likes the features of that version. so i wouldnt want to replace anything in a topic, and i wouldnt want people to have to stumble page to page in a topic looking for the release info for each version.

so if no one minds id like to continue doing it the way that works the best for me, for the remaining one or two versions of my maps that i will be releasing.

what happens is if EVERYONE releases 4 betas for each map and makes 4 threads, it will quickly become cluttered.

The rules are the rules. and they arn't going to change for 1 person. if you like it that way put a dl link for each beta in your 1st post,

WARNING for all: if you dont want to follow the rules ill start deleating topics, or merging them. follow the rules and be like everyone else or GTFO

so since you like your system and youre a mod it becomes forum policy?

when you release and start a new topic, people then post on that new topic. the old one drops away to the other pages and all the new releases are still on page one.

making a topic for each release allows you to tell someone in game, "go on the urt forums and search ut4_mymap"
then they get a list of each version and each topic has a change log specific to that version, so people can review the changes. the subject of each release is a new topic, so why wouldnt you start a "new topic"?

are you really going to start denying people their own system, for no other reason than keeping it 'less cluttered'? we all dont map the same way, so why would we all use the same release system?

now anyone that finds your system lacking is going to be told to "follow the rules and be like everyone else or GTFO" ? is this really the type of comment we should expect from moderators? it seems more like rulings of a fascist dictator. this is hardly the way to keep this game / forum alive.

im sorry we must disagree so. it would be a fine suggestion but its a needlessly limiting rule.
