Could it be made to remember the choices you make in the "game types to show" area? It's well enough designed that it is very quick to reset them each time but just a thought.

This feature is already on my ToDo list, but had a to low priority to be included in 0.2.:)

Are you willing to share how you went about making it? like what tools and stuff, (QT creator?) etc.

I'd really like to know how to get a handle on this kind of thing but find it difficult to know where to begin.

Sure. I'm using Eclipse with the PyDev plugin (http://pydev.org) and Glade (http://glade.gnome.org). Glade is a UI-Designer for GTK that stores the UI-Layout in a XML-file that can be read by the application to create the user interface. But I don't use this feature in UrTSB. When I started developing UrTSB I had no real idea how the UI should look like. I just wanted to start with a small table of server ips that than can be extended. Therefore I started working without Glade and just use the GTK Api directly, because it just seems easier to me. But from time to time I used glade for prototyping to try out some layout parameters that then could be set in the code by using the appropriate Api methods.
The rest is just writing code
Normaly I would have choosen a more structured way to develop. Starting to workout a concrete concept for the UI etc. But UrTSB is also a learning project for me. Its the first application I develop with Python and PyGTK (mainly used C/C++ for my private projects in the past and at work I have to use Java).. so this iterative way was also my solution to stepwise get in touch with Python and PyGTK.

Awsome. It really improves quickly. I saw that you are adding new features daily. So I am using now source from svn :) Thanks for adding that option for default tab. In the latest version I found few glitches:
  • appver in guicontroller.py should be updated
  • in dialog for adding buddies the window title is "Server needs a password to connect!"
  • sometimes can be annoying that the server is updated on click... specially when servers are sorted by ping... it often jumps somewhere else... (I know this is more feature then bug)

That is all I noticed. Maybe just one more feature request. To connect a server on double click... but that could be problematic if server jumps up and down on list (3rd glitch).

It is all about fun!

It's a server listing program that starts the game at the server you choose from the list. That's what it does.

Does it work for you if you try in console?
$ urt-executable +connect someserver:port
Which distro are you using? What version of python and pygtk do you have installed?

Please run UrTSB from a Terminal and see if there is some interesting output (errormessages).
When you click connect there should be an output like:

"launching UrT with cmd = urbanterror + connect serverip:port"

the part after the "=" is the command that is dynamicaly build together based on the config (executable, path) and the server ip and port you are trying to connect.
