why is it that whenever i try to start my own server, it freezes on me?

the window completely disappears and it just shows the "processing/thinking" icon instead of the regular cursor.

ps - i'm a mac guy, so any microsoft help will not do me any good, thanks anyway.

That's just normal, in order to play on your Server, you need to use a Copy. Duplicate YOur ioUrbanTerror App and then use the copy to play on your Server. The server will be listed under "local"

If you want to have the complete control about the Urban Terror-Server you can start the server in a Terminal-window using the command: „/Applications/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/iourbanterror.ub +exec server.cfg +set dedicated 2". With this command you are able to execute RCON-commands without even connecting to the server... Very comfortable ;-)

Try not running it as a dedicated server. This happened to me before and frustrated me for hours.

With this command the server is still running in window-mode, but it does not report itself to the masterserver, so without entering the IP directly it should just be accessable through the local network: "/Applications/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/iourbanterror.ub +exec server.cfg +set dedicated 1".
