I have run Urban Terror 4.1.1 Mitsu's build with WINE - just for kicks.

2xFPS than on native Linux client. How is this possible?

Kubuntu 11.10
Kernel 3.0.0-14-generic
Nvidia GF6000
Drivers 280.13

I suspect you enabled the VBO optimized rendering in the optimized client. Which removes some of the bottleneck caused by the CPU, and offloads more of the rendering to the GPU.

Try to benchmark it at different resolutions, both native and with Wine. Report the results of the benchmarks if you will.

Both tests have been done on same build - Mitsu's one, with r_simpleshaders 1. Linux get 40 fps, Windows (WINE) ~80 fps.

Try with the build using vanilla renderer too.

Connect to my topic about performance download demos and autoexec.cfg and then compare fps!

I have better performance on linux machines. It's true on Nvidia cards mixed with Intel and Amd processors also mixed with Ati cards -results are the same Linux and Urban Terror extremely like each other!

Also, never test your results on newer Ubuntu's cause it has some bugs (details in my topic)
