moving from osx to windows xp (bootcamp)

hello windowsfriends,

i have been playing urt on osx for quite some time now and so i thought i wanna take a look on the windows side of the world, so i installed bootcamp and i installed windows xp and that's where the trouble started..

no it didn't actually just some slight inconvinience occured ..

on osx i was using 1280*800 on my 27 inch screen (i was playing urt on a macbook 13 inch before and wanted to stick to the screensize i was used to), what osx did with that screen resoltion was to put a 1280 * 800 sized window on my native 2650*1440 screen, the rest of the display was blacked out ...

i was hoping i could do the same on windows xp but using resultions like that resulted in a blown up full screen picture .. i can't take 27 inches of urt (lol) it's just too much ..
funny thing is that if i "window" urt it just feels like good old times but i am not too keen on playing urt with my desktop in the background...

any ideas how i could solve that issue?

thanks
karl

Use a black background and let the taskbar hide :D

On a more serious note: Depends on you graphics card, but in the NVidia Panel can you go under
"Adjust the desktops size and location" (May not be correct as I translated from Danish)
There you should be able to tick the
"No Scale"
Box on. You should have black borders this way. It may be hidden somewhere else, but something like that should be on every graphicscards program/panel

hmm..
as far as i know windows is powered by bootcamps own drivers, i am not sure i can use anything else but those ... the graphics card is a ati hd 5750 ..

but thanks for your reply .. i was hoping there might be a setting for my cfg that could fix that issue...

uhh. looks like i was wrong .. i will try to download ati's very own drivers.. maybe i'll find an option similar to the one you described .

edit:
well, windows xp isn't supported by the latest drivers for ati's hd 5750 ... crap ..

old drivers maybe?

EDIT: Though I have no idea how to get older drivers...

EDIT2: A quick search showed this. A windows xp 32 bit driver for the graphics cards Radeonâ„¢ HD 7000, HD 6000 and HD 5000 Series

so i have downloaded and installed a package of drivers for my graphics card, that stuff even works but there is no way to fix my inital problem .. those control panels are rather trival .. and of no use to me ..

anyone got another idea how i could get the display setup i am looking for?

usually your monitor's menu system has the option to tell it how you want to display resolutions that are non-native, i.e. stretched to fit , boxed or even enveloped.
