Whatsup urban terror member dudes/gals. So I am a fps nerd and have been a wolfenstein freak since rtcw. I haven't played a fps shooter in about a year and a half. Wolf:ET: is dead and I've been looking for a game like it, that is as much fun and competitive as it. I downloaded urban terror like two days ago. I've been lovin it. So I'm trying to get to know the competitive community here.
Any n00b tips I should be aware of? Should I get a custom config?

Check here if you are searching for a group/clan.

I personally dont use a custom config but most compettetive players do, you´ll find enough if you search around the forums or google it.

if you don't like uptown, you are basically hating urban terror.

well, since you are asking ..
i am playing almost exclusively on servers hosted by the boobs clan ... boobs clan is famous for its uptown only servers, although they ain't running one for 4.2 at the moment
whereas landpuff.de is hosting an uptown only 4.2 server as well as a uptown only 4.1 server :)
to be honest i think finding your favorite server depends on where you are located ..
i personally would decide based on ping ...

Hello.
There are 2 main competitions in UrT : Clanbase and Urban Zone, which propose CTF and TS (and BM for Clanbase for the 1st time this year). If you just started playing the game, you might have a hard time getting in higher divisions (since players in those divisions usually play for several years). You should try to get in a friendly clan that's willing to teach the game basics.
Personally I'd suggest you to train on normal servers (which means : no custom maps, with 15/20 players max on it).
Oh, and for now those competitions use 4.1.1 version as mandatory game version, they might switch to 4.2.x as the next season starts (nothing sure for now).
Welcome in the game, and hf. :)
