4.2 LOW FPS (compared to 4.1)

If your getting good frame rates in 4.1 but not in 4.2 it's time to check the usual suspects. If your topping out at 60 then in most cases this would be a V-sync issue and a simple fix of turning off V-sync in the set up menu. What this does is it caps your frame rate at the max refresh rate of your monitor and since most LCD monitors tops out at 60hz.
Another is a lot of video cards have additional settings in “their†control panels that tends to over ride any settings you make inside the game as well save special configurations for a given game or applicator.
If you can't get past 60 then that you are probably V-sync locked to the refreeze rate of your monitor.

Just a shoutout for users with multicores.
Few years ago when I was investigating my laptops massive performance drops I came across a topic saying that vista (and potentialy any other windows OS) could sometimes either get "messed up" with the cores or swap between them for centrain applications/games that either caused huge performance drops little in a while or constant lagging. This happens if one core is really stressed and one is more than capable of handling/offloading its buddys tasks. This may also happen if the program is treated as "minor" process.
To prevent this from happening, go to task manager and right click the process/exe (urban terror) then choose "set" "affinity" or "affility", I dont remember what is the proper wording for that
My laptop showed CPU0 and CPU1, leave only one marked (preferably the one which is less occupied)
Also notice that some modern processors have "virtual cores" which fool the software to think there is more cores available that there is physicaly, nothing major though.
Im not saying that this will work, Im sayan it may do something, I got rid off some nasty slow ups in Unreal Tournament 99 but didnt do much else for other games.
DONT mess around and set the cores randomly for different processes, neither should you do this for any newer games since they usualy require multiple cores.
Going to test HD today on my desktop PC to see how it runs.

i would've done that a long time ago .. but setting affinity is not possible on a mac .. as far as i know
if you don't like uptown, you are basically hating urban terror.
