it does nothing. if set below 0 or above 3, it disables your renderer, so don't do that lol

There is a good side of this. It doesn't give you that graphic advantage on Nvidia cards.

fyi, the command they are discussing on CB is actually r_intensity. Just some noobs saying "r_primitive" without understanding.
r_intensity controls texture brightness. It's similar to r_gamma, but without the washout effect, I believe. In any case, it's a locked cvar--you can't change it from 0. It's locked within the QVM code, so custom clients can't even get around this.

In fact, they are discussing r_primitives which looks like this (set to 3) on my work PC (some integrated shit GPU). Most of the textures are completely flat. Fortunately, I could not reproduce it at home with nvidia card.
r_intensity has been discussed like 2 (?) years ago on CB so this topic is over (unlocking is forbidden by CB).
