We know of this issue and believe it may be related to the reload command (specifically in configs). Still looking into it.

My private server has g_gear "0" in the server.cfg and the UZ configs have g_gear "0" so that's not the issue. I haven't been able to narrow it down yet but I know it's not related to matchmode then /reload either. It seems to do okay if the cvars are manually set but when you're trying to play matches that could be 1 of 5 gametypes, that gets to be a very big hassle.

THIS FIX ONLY APPLIES TO SERVER ADMINS RUNNING PRIVATE SERVERS
We've tracked this down to a very weird edge-case in 4.2.014. This problem only effects passworded/private servers, and the fix is very easy. Thanks to everyones help in tracking this one down, including Nikki, JohnnyEnglish, and others.

If you use a password on your server, just add "set g_needpass 1" to your config, or on command line add "+set g_needpass 1". This should fix any crash problems right now. We're looking into a proper fix for 015. Servers without passwords ARE NOT EFFECTED AND SHOULD NOT CHANGE THIS!

My server is not private and has no password, but I get "Couldn't find weapon 66." I can't get in to my own server.

Seattle TDM? (Weapon 69 for me.) I tried to replicate this by copying the cvars shown in server info but couldn’t. Can you post the full config? (Don’t forget to remove the passwords, if any.) Is there any additional stuff appended to the command line?

If you have rcon access, you should just be able to do
\writeconfig <filename>
(on the running server). Passwords seem to be excluded automatically. The <filename> will show up in /<fs_homepath>/q3ut4/

ps. fs_homepath is found by
\fs_homepath
(in-game console)

Worked like a charm:-D

I did wonder why your server info had a funny g_maxGameClients value (“14 //max clients tha”); turns out you have a missing quote in the config. gg nice parsing of comments, right.

After fixing this I could connect to the server just fine. I shall shut up now and let more qualified people explain what’s going on here (“Jay Arr think overflow thing happen. It bad.”).
