I was reminded yesterday that nobody had spoken more about the design a map project, I thought I'd better just write a little about what's been going on over the last week.
Wily and myself have spoken to representatives of the winning team, we've tried to get a flavour of what kind of map they would like and we've compiled a document with inspirational images and notes about the map.
There's been a lot of discussion about how to build the map and how to create a layout, we've been testing map sizes and trying to solve the more technical problems (how to block vis, how to create detailed texture effects) before we actually build anything. Its been a stimulating exercise so far.
In addition we've started to build models, we're only at the placeholder stage so far and I would imagine it will be a few weeks before we have a full stock of models and props. Here's something I've been working on:
