I'm on Mac OSX 10.9.3 Maverick and each time I launch UrT I downloaded before ( latest version ) the game crashes. The game is launched but I can't progress to the main menu : it stops on the "Frozen Sands" animation broken and spread everywhere on the screen with a bugged sound... I can do nothing except shut down computer power... very bothering : I can't play my favourite game...
help me please !

I had something like this, and changing s_khz fixed it. Try setting s_khz to 44 and see if you can run the game again. It accepts 11, 22, or 44, but I think it should be forced to 44 now…

Since it may be related to sound, you could also try setting dmaHD_enable to 0 to turn off the dmaHD sound system. If that works, then you can turn it back on and try playing with dmaHD settings until you find the one that's causing the problem. …otherwise, just leave dmaHD off.

Ok I'll try this. Thanks a lot.

I finally had this happen to me again and flipping r_ignorehwgamma on worked; it started up fine with no reboot or any other action.

It didn't work for me...

download the zip- not the autodownloader. it helped me a lot for mavericks and yosemite. its because the autodownloader doesn't create the required q3t4 folder on intel macs... friend me and i'll frag you!

But I've got the zip-file... maybe I should start another download to re-try : my bro gave me this file and maybe it's not the right q3ut4 for maverick but rather for windows. I'll retry, thanks.
And I'll friend you only if it works  !

that explains it! in the zip file, redownload the UrtUpdater and replace it. run that and expect an error. Let it be then double click Quake3-UrT. if that doesn't work, go to terminal and type open then drag the app into the terminal window. press enter and let me know what happens. cheers and happy fragging  !

I repaired system rights and start volume, did all the onyX-Stuff, but it still is not starting.

What happens is the following: I double-click the app, and then absolutely nothing happens...
My konsole shows the following errors:

02.10.14 11:53:54,871 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[313]: (com.frozensand.quake3-urt.24320[668]) Job failed to exec(3) for weird reason: 13
02.10.14 11:53:54,873 Finder[331]: 8837325: Attempting to SIGCONT to pid #668 failed, with errno=#3, or the process failed to actually start
02.10.14 11:53:54,875 loginwindow[82]: ERROR | -[Application setAppContext:] | Unable to get PID for context [0,204850]
02.10.14 11:53:54,875 Dock[329]: no information back from LS about running process LSASN:{hi=0x0;lo=0x32032}
02.10.14 11:53:54,884 Finder[331]: 8837325: Attempting to SIGCONT to pid #668 failed, with errno=#3, or the process failed to actually start

When I try to start it with Terminal by "open /Applications/UrT/Quake3-UrT.app", I see the following message:
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/UrT/Quake3-UrT.app.

My System is: 10.9.5 (current version) on a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2009 (2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB)

I believe the last version working was UrT 4.2.017, which I played last time by beginning of this year...

Update & fix
A simple "chmod -R 755 Quake3-UrT.app" worked just fine. I feel like an idiot...
Step by Step:
1. Open Terminal.
2. Type: "chmod -R 755 "
3. drag the Quake3-UrT - Application (the one with the UrT Logo) from your UrT Folder into the Terminal.
4. Press enter.
5. Enjoy fragging!

Heh, no need to feel like an idiot. This isn't an obvious fix.

It's good to back and see this thread still half alive, chmod -R 755 Quake3-UrT.app is confirmed to be working on my MacBook Pro with the latest version of UrT 4.2.020. (Delete the text "Quake3-UrT.app and simply drag the application into terminal =) ) (It took me a while to figure this out
