this is a kinda mod bot for urban terror with 2 number of bots (8 and 16)
and 4 difficultiy levels (easy,medium,hard,balanced).
for information and install read the readme.
feedback etc under this thread.

So it's you against a pile of bots that are killing each other.

so this is basically a collection of cfgs, and not a mod?


first of: i like cfgs, and i like people investing their time in UrT <3. So no offense/whatever meant in the further down post.

'mods' name: q3a bots arent smart. they are either useless(lvl 1-4), or totally OP (lvl 5)

Anyway:
i wonder how you plan to do this:
(readme.txt):
menu shortcut
waypoints for all maps (currently only a few are supported).
better ai for team games.
maybe a chat function (bots will chat with you).

1) Well. i know this IS possible. you could mod menus, and add some. But: FS doesnt like people modding theirs UI. even if it looks better than a classic menu. (imo.) => reference
2)This is even more a problem. i nowadays see many modded maps with a _bot added, which are recompiled versions to support bots. all those mods probably violate the license the maps were delivered under.
3)This would require you modding closed source UrT (server) code. Forget about it. cuz a) FS/idsoftware property; b) q3a bot code. fucked up like hell. FS is actually supprised bots do still work. c)you are working on 4.2.x, which is going to be dead if HD comes up. (in an not closer specified time...)
4)bots DO actually chat with you. there is a cvar (bot_fastchat/bot_nochat)to enable bot chat. taggedzis UrT oasis/appendix B - check the Bots! section

what you actually COULD do would be creating own botconfigs and/or an external tool to mod these. With some tweaking you might be able to create a bit smarter bots...

-yes currently its just a collection of cfgs

-thats sure for normal players, but i think for noobs even lvl2 bots are challenging.
currently this "mod"(or collection of cfgs) uses the half-ported quake 3 bots.
A new ai is defentliy required to let them be smart.

-hab ich auch bemerkt das der bot code ziemlich schlampig geported wurde.
wen hd fertig ist dauert es glaubich aber noch lllllllllaaaaaaaannnnnge :-)

ich glaube leider nicht wirklich das mann nocht viel aus den ut/q3 bots rausbekommt, ich könnte versuchen vorhandene open source bot mods zu urt zu porten (rse wäre interessant da diese tatsächlich sehr schlauh sind, allerdings enthält der mod (wegen mw2) sehr viel unnötiges zeug , aber die ai nicht.)

momentan ist SURTE nur ein mehr oder weniger komfortabler weg um bots einzufügen.

In short: you are right, i've renamend the mod/tool now to UTBTv1 (urban terror bot tool)
sorry for the change of german/english in my original reply.
