Hey Guys!

At the early development process I posted on the topic "What are you working on?", but now I think the map is ready for a first alpha release.

At the beginning I generated the empty terrain with a self-made "UrbanTerror-Minecraft-terrainGenerator" (completely written in Java), then I added all buildings (like bridges, wooden cabins, subway, etc.) in GTKradiant.

Small Description of the map:
A small, peaceful island somewhere in the Minecraft-Universe. The island is separated by a river.
You can reach the other side by a) swimming, b) use the bridges, c) use the subway system.

Still to improve:
- More different tree species
- Better transition from the sea to the skymap (or a better skymap in general)
- More interactive features and Minecraft-typical things (any ideas? Please leave a comment =) )
- blah, blah, blah... There's still a lot to improve :)

Improvements in Alpha 2:
- fixed Bug with respawns under the map
- added damage when running against the cactus
- Better visibility of the Subway-Sign
- fixed Bug where you can see through the ground in the sea

Supported gamemodes: FFA, TDM, CTF, TS (made for 16 Players)

looks really nice. plays quite nice. really a good thing that you can jump up a block on this map without climbing. i remember some other MC style maps...

now add a mine-cart that drives around the map (func_train). Just for the hell of it.
Also a nice thing: destructible stuff. Not only windows but maybe the tree leafs (in groups of about 3-6 blocks a breakable. So you could cut yourself a way through/into a tree.

Really nice map. A very good one I've seen in a very long time.
Gonna test it on my zombie server.

What about making the tree leaves transparent? Like in MC?
Also maybe add some squids in the river or in the ocean?

I already tried to add a minecraft cart as a func_ut_train, but I had not much time. I failed with the correct rotation of the cart (curves, ups and downs).
When I have more time again, I'll give another try, would be cool for sure :)

Destructible trees would be nice, although it would be a lot of work I think (the trees are all different, so I have to build it manually on every single tree).
Problem: As far as I know, UrT has a miximum count of 255 entities (like breakables, etc). When I make every tree destructible in groups, there will be way too much entities, so it won't work.

I wanted to make the leaves transparent like real minecraft, but because there are too many, I got an error, because the shader count was too high.

Squids would be cool, but It won't be possible to give them a "realistic" minecraft-movement in urban terror (too little possibilities in GTKradiant).

Yeah. Thats right. i had that problem quite some times with a map i did. (Oldtown;all windows in the playable area are destructible and made of multiple breakables...)
but lets say you got about 100 trees, then you could create 2 groups per tree and maybe 3 for trees that tough each other...
Hell of a lot of work though :)

Oh damn, how could I forget that? Will be fixed for sure in next version :)

BTW. if you - like you said - are going to test it on your zombie-server, may you send me the IP/PW per PN? Would love it to test it on a server with others :)

Hey nice map, thanks for making it! :cool:
I loaded it on my server for testing, but players found some glitch: somehow they were swimming under the map.
