"why is the .pk3 so big?"

"I could choose two options, good, fast, or cheap, and I'd seen plenty of cheap options already. If we want the textures to look good it makes the .pk3 bigger. Better and more sound files, it all takes space, without a sacrifice to quality"

8429 brushes and counting
280 lights, 270+ models: part of 800+ entities
over 150 different textures, many at 1024x1024, (makes the majority of the file size)
and over 10MB of .wav files


I'm interested in optimizing the file size, but I'll take my time with it, because I don't want quality to suffer. I'm interested in what people think of an urt map being so big, is it prohibitive?

We've been pulling it up as a mods choice at |RFA|. It's going over well. We'll be putting it in next weeks rotation..

Thanks drunkrabbit, RFA and play testers on RFA pub server

File size has been (slightly) reduced, add detail, game flow improvement expanding some corridors, FPS drop on wire mesh script fixed, jump, camp and cover improvement, textures, no draw model clip script, add mesh terrain red spawn.

TDM: spawn point adjusted, map open
TS: ts spawn point groups, map closed in
CTF: corridor adjusted, spawn point adjusted
BOMB: func_walls and spawn point adjustment

All game types supported (no jump mode)
