Good morning all

I have been trying for almost 2 days, to configure a server to play online with friends.
I have knowledge, I am IT / network technicians.

It is not visible online but locally only.

My port forwarding to my pc is done (UDP / TCP port 27960)

I have a doubt on the arguments to put in the target of the shortcut because I saw a lot of different tutorials.

Anyone have an idea to help me in my diagnostic?

Thank you beforehand.

First make sure the variable *dedicated* is set to "2" on your server, by typing "dedciated" into the server console.

IIRC dedicated has to be passed as a command line argument and cannot be loaded from the config. (i might be wrong about that limitation tho):

Quake3-UrT-Ded.exe +set dedicated "2" +exec "server.cfg"

Next make sure the server actually reports to the master server, by checking that

  • Its sv_master is set correctly. Check that in the server console as well. It should be set/defaulted to master.urbanterror.info
  • Check that your server is allowed to open a outgoing connection

Given port forwarding being set up, it should "just work".
Sorry for my bad spelling - I am still asleep. :)

Thank you for your reply.

I checked the arguments by trying:

Quake3-UrT-Ded.exe + dedicated set 2 + exec server.cfg without results

I get this in the console

I also tried with these arguments (found on the net) but without success

Quake3-UrT-Ded.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip my public IP +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg

I get a network error which intrigues me however

If you have other diagnostic ideas, I am interested :)

Edit:
I also tested with another internet access (4G router) with port forwarding, and modified public ip same problem

Did you just typo "+ dedicated set 2" here, or is that what you tried?

The first image looks like the server is running. It might not have loaded a map (depending of whether there is an active map command at the end of the server cfg). It says its sending a heartbeat to the master server, which it correctly resolved.

I'm not sure what specifying net_ip actually does, but it shouldnt be nessecary. Neither is specifying the port, since its the default port.

I must have made a typo earlier.
I put this argument in the shortcut
https://www.casimage...330946.png.html

I had not modified the mapcycle exemple.txt

This time I renamed the mapcycle.txt as written in the server.cfg

"set g_mapcycle "mapcycle.txt" // Name of mapcycle-file, located in q3ut4 directory"

I also checked the map at the end of the server.cfg

When restarting I always see my server but only in LAN

I must have missed something.
