Also note that it is now possible to overclock videocards with this release in the nvidia-settings program, which means that we don't have to use the program nvclock anymore.

It's mainly because I've had a processor burned up before a few years after six months of appeared stability, after overclocking it. It was a cyrix 6x86, well known back then for their instability in overclocking, but in any way, I keep my PCs on 24/7, and I'm reluctant to risk the hardware's life for 2-5% increase in performance.

ok, it has an autodetection feature, that's pretty cool, makes me feel better about it and I actually tested it. I timedemoed the usual benchmarking demo of quake3 with the suggested settings and got aroung 15% more fps. that's nice provided the card is not burned tomorrow. dunno though 184fps -> 215fps isn't that great. I mean, I cap urt on 85. that usually stays there unless sth goes wrong and drops to 50 or 30 or sth. is that going to save me? don't think so.
well at least I can use it in case I obsolutely have to play on a game that gives me 50fps or sth similarly nusty.
it'll get from 50, to.. 57.5.
better than nth, but.. anyway.
