Well, I compared to 3.1 casa for lighting trying to get a good balance with both r_mapoverbrightbits 1 and 2 ... so if you're using the settings you used back then it should be almost the same. Try using r_overbrightbits 0 That's one thing about ET these values are locked which makes life much easier for mappers. Right now these two cvars make huge differences in the lighting depending on their values and a mapper can't make it look good at all values. If you get them set properly you'll see that Casa has a nice gold light. I play in gamma 1.25 or 1.5 and I can still see it so you must really have your settings whacked.
