Seems that if you wait too long in doorway of spawn, the door closes and traps you.

spawn rooms are by far the most effective way to stop spawn killing. Im sure that Ozedood and Midget Killer could have just lumped the spawns on the ground near it and just left it. Spawn rooms help noobs too. If no noobs play your map, then you have barely any new players. not fun making maps for the exact same audience.
oh and btw, its not anyone in particulars fault. The CloseWhenIdle key was supposed to hold the door for the player. and it failed. this could be q3 prob but it could b a UrT programmer concentrating on the game instead of perfecting doors so ppl dont have to put out the effort to type /kill.
