I have had a problem and I have been trying to fix it, but me being of limited capacity arggghhh....headshot me, please.

Let me give you setup then problem.
Home network Linksys WRT150N router and Linksys WUSB300n Wireless adapter.
Two PC's and a TIVO on network. One pc running XP one running Vista.
Vista is hardwired and XP is wireless.
Both run retail versions of Quake 3 XP with no problems what so ever, even on wireless connection. FPS great.
Vista has little hiccups in the game play that show up as black dots in the netgraph. It's like a pause here and there every couple of seconds. FPS usually 75.
XP is 3.0 GHZ pentium D HT 2 GIG ram Old Nvidia Graphics Card 2003
Vista is Intel Dual Core 2 1.86 GHZ 2 GIG ram New Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE.

I am very frustrated because I here the little pauses in the sound when I am selecting a server. So I now feel, after focusing on the connection for so long, that it's actually in the program or Vista..

Any Ideas.

Nuke and pave Vista... install Linux or XP.

black lines in the netgraph are usually caused by playing on a server with antiwarp enabled (though, I should add it's usually indicative of a poor network connection (to that server, or possibly in general).

I would try wired to rule out (or not) that it's caused by wireless.

I swapped the network around and ruled out the connection. The XP ran flawlessly with the wireless connection. I still had problems with the wired connection. I read some documentation and the only other thing that I tried that I never did before was turn off the Optimization Threading in the Nvidia Control Panel. So far I have had no issues today and everything seems to be running lagless.
