PS: I don't find the spawns that terrible tbh. It's probably impossible to get good spawns on this map, but I think BK managed to pull of the best that was achievable within the short period of time she had for the map. Remember: Uptown would have been lost totally if she didn't update some unfinished pre-3.7 beta build she got from it.
As for lighting, it's clearly not the only issue for old maps. Quake3 textures/sounds/models can not be used anymore (many do) and the scale is often off. You can't always keep supporting old stuff if you want to move on, sorry. And how much work is it really for a mapper to update a map compared to creating an entire map? It's peanuts, but ye, still gotta be done though. I really like the new 3rd party maps we are starting to see and we've seen a lot of good oldies being updated too and more will follow (queenbee/dragonne anyone?!).

You just need a round on uptown and watch me get my retribution camp on against blue, spawn rapes are meant to be crushed, don't get whiny, saddle up your nadz and crush them.

ctf may be improved if half of the spaws go down at the elevator and 1st level parking for the other team. it may have been a problem in 3.7 having them scattered all around and now it may be the other side, too restricted.
