http://www.fedorafor...=&threadid=3286

echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

this got it working (fedora core 2), of course you have to do it every time you reboot which kinda sucks.

Nah...
ALSA with Fedora 2 ...
There are 4 packages of ALSA.
Alsa-lib, Alsa-driver, Alsa-oss, and Alsa-utils
Remove the Fedora 2 driver (hell it's probably in the kernel)
and go to www.alsa-project.org and manually install all 4 packages
To compile and install only take about 8m for all of them combines.
Go in this order:
alsa-lib
alsa-drivers
alsa-oss
alsa-utils
Enjoy ... Oh, when you're done installing, type alsaconf as root and it'll probe everything for you :) ... then alsamixer to set your volumes then alsactl store to store the settings... k peace

Guess you will need snd-pcm-oss next to the snd-<card> module to get /dev/dsp
