ESL - 5on5 Team Survivor Cup

The Electronic Sports League has released a news statement about re-opening a league for Urban Terror starting with a 5on5 Team Survivor cup. This is what they had to say:

"Do you want to get the game back onto the ESL? Do you think you have what it takes to become the winner of the Test Cup? Gather your team and head on over to the sign up page where you will be given the option to get your team into the cup."

4.2.017 is Coming to Town

Ho Ho Ho!
Santa's elves have been hard at work with FrozenSand to release an update to fix the autobalancer and a few other bugs this Sunday Dec 22nd at 22:00 CET. Check the changelog to see what else has been updated.



CHANGELOG


Fixed teambalancer-skin bug.
Fixed chat overflow bug (was overflowing on the team overlay)
Fixed the flag capture time.
New cvar: cg_drawFlagCaptureTime (0: no time shown, 1: time in seconds, 2: time in seconds and milliseconds)
All UrT executables are now compatible with older CPUs (no-SSE build no longer needed)
Fixed mousewheel scrolling of console when raw-mouse was used.
dmaHD: Sound system is on by default on the UrT executables.
dmaHD: Fixed annoying clicks/echoes with some weapon sounds.
dmaHD: Re-introduced all the old mixers (CVAR: dmaHD_mixer)
Autobalance turned off by default.

UTSC Open 2 vs 2 Cup

UTSC are organizing their first Open 2v2 Cup.
Teams may play as few or as many matches as they like. This cup uses an ELO rating system (the same system used in the XLRstats skill component), so teams cannot spam wins against lesser teams to ensure high placing. Playing more often won't necessarily mean a higher rank, so only the most truly dynamic duo will emerge victorious.

There won't be any restrictions on map choices, however, the game type will be limited to Team Survivor for now. Teams can have as few as 2 players or as many as they choose. This is an open cup, so all are welcome and there is no limit to the number of teams participating. The only restriction is that players may not represent more than one team.

Sign ups will remain open until New Year's Eve, and the cup will be held for the first 2 months of 2014.

End of the 4.1 era

KABOOM! - That is the sound our self destruct mechanism will make on the 1st of January 2014 at 00:00 CET. It has been activated for our 4.1 Master Servers and the count down has begun!

In just over two weeks time we will finally shut down the 4.1 master servers for good. So, if there are any server admins or players that have not yet upgraded to the latest Urban Terror 4.2 release, now is the opportunity to upgrade to version 4.2 and test the latest additions and changes!

FrozenSand is pleased to announce the addition of HappyDay, p5yc0runn3r and Timbeaux to the development team.
HappyDay is a well known level designer. He has been playing Urban Terror since 2008 and picked up level design in 2009. He had done a little bit of level design before for Duke Nukem 3D, Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3 but only got serious about it with UrT. He has 5 years of experience in GTK Radiant, about 2-3 years experience in Blender and is also proficient in texture creation and manipulation with GIMP. He is looking forward to creating a few more awesome maps for UrT and is excited about the possibilities for lots of detail in the new engine. Here's to a friendly and productive development experience.
p5yc0runn3r is the creator of the dmaHD sound engine and the one who introduced RAW mouse support for Windows in our current gaming engine. He is a self taught professional software developer with more than 15 years of programming language experience including C/C++, C#, .NET, and many other languages including x86 assembler. He has vast experience in telecommunication systems, VoIP and FoIP technologies, game development experience and most of all loves playing computer games.
Timbeaux is a composer and sound engineer and will be helping to create sounds and music for UrT. He has been playing Urban Terror since 2007 and composing music since 1998. He has many years of experience with Propellerheads Reason (13) and Ableton Live (3).

Knockout Christmas Edition

It has been a couple of months but Urban Zone is back with a full Knockout! It will be held on the 15th of December at 15:00 cet. So its dubbed the Knockout Christmas Edition! Signups will be done through the Urban Zone website, you can also find the maps there. The first 14 to reply to the newspost get a spot since the 15th spot has already been taken by none other than JohnnyEnglish who created one of the maps for this knockout.

If you aren't one of the lucky 14 you can still signup as dropouts are quite common, if you don't get to participate you can watch it live on their Twitch channel.

CMM Map design competition

You — yes, you — may have wanted to build your very own map for years but lack the skills, persistence, or simply time. Now you can: CMM is holding a map design competition open for anyone.

Groups of any kind (clans, communities, just a couple of friends) are eligible. There’s no limit to the number of designs a person or a group can post as long as they conform to the minimal requirements.

To enter, you have to post a layout sketch and as complete description of the theme as you deem necessary — at minimum, a couple of words about what the map would depict plus some photos. Paintings/drawings or screenshots would also do; however, you’re not supposed to ask for a remake of an existing map from another game, this is all about your awesome idea.

The winning entry will be built by CMM members. You will be able to work together with the mappers and make the decisions that will affect the final result, should you choose so. The full credit and rights to the map will belong to you or your group.

UTSC 2nd seasonal Sr8 Only Tournament

UTSC is proud to announce the 2nd seasonal Sr8 Only Tournament, scheduled for December. Signups will remain open through the month of November. There are 16 spots available. Urban Terror 4.2.015 Release

FrozenSand is happy to announce that we have a brand new update ready for you! Urban Terror 4.2.015 is now available for download!! This release will reinstate the Auth system and fix a few bugs discovered in 4.2.014.

Simply run the UrTUpdater, follow the onscreen instructions: it will update your game automatically.

This update brings also a new gift: a new map created by our Nounou named Ghosttown. Ghosttown is a big playground imagined for 12 to 18 players which includes vertical gameplay and many possibilities to jump. It was first designed to be played in deathmatch modes and capture the flag.
