Reality Gets Bent

in Media - posted Friday, 14 March 2008 by FrozenSand
So Urban Terror was not handed any awards in a recent mod of the year contest, nor was Urban Terror mentioned as one of the top 101 free mods in a recent gaming magazine article. Thankfully, Urban Terror has received a little snippet of press in the  April/May 2008 issue of Games for Windows magazine.

In January a post on the Urban Terror Forums titled, "a lil free PR" appeared thanks to impy, for emailing the editor of the Free Play column where Urban Terror appears. The write up is small, yet modest included is a shot of the level Elgin.

All the main features of the game get mentioned from the "John Woo style" of walljumping and powersliding to the "real-life weapons with recoil and increasing inaccuracy when fired...or moving." If you get the magazine or can get your hands on a copy, check out page 43, filed under "Reality Gets Bent."

Urban Terror - Mod of the Year 2007?

in Media - posted Tuesday, 04 December 2007 by FrozenSand
So, Urban Terror is not the newest or possibly the best, the most highly played mod that has been recently released. In fact, Urban Terror is now running on a very old, Quake III Arena engine that has been open sourced by id Software. One thing has remained a constant in our community, the gamers. These are those dedicated soles who play and support Urban Terror on community servers and in leagues worldwide.

Each year a contest is held for Mod of the Year and while Urban Terror has never received any sort of award for the mod, we are glad to know we have a faithful following through thick and thin. In addition to showing our support for moddb.com, we ask you to take a minute and give your vote in their yearly contest.

Unofficial Urban Terror 4.0 Promo Video + a word to server admins

in Media - posted Tuesday, 20 November 2007 by FrozenSand

Kane, a member of our community has put together a nice promo movie of Urban Terror 4.0. There's a thread in our forum where you can find the link and post feedback.

A word to server admins

First of all: thanks for hosting the servers, greatly appreciated! Second: Please make sure to disable BattlEye and sv_allowdownload on your server.

BattlEye only applies to servers using ioUrbanTerror. BattlEye is dead and doesn't catch ANY cheat. It does cause an amount of players not to be able to join your server though. So please, set sv_battleye to 0 in your server.cfg and restart it with +set sv_battleye 0 as an argument (./ioUrTded +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg +set sv_battleye 0 for example).

sv_allowdownload is not used for the new fast auto-download system. Setting it to 1 might cause the old SLOW downloadsystem to be triggered. So please keep it at 0.

Also, you might wanna read this thread about a free sv_dlURL.

Tnx again!

We recently updated Urban Terror over at moddb.com posting some never seen before screenshots of a few upcoming levels in the new release including Lavatubes, created by TwentySeven. We were also able to show off some newly updated screen shots of Tombs by BladeKiller along with four shots of the red/blue team male and female models. And yes, that is a mowhawk you see on his head!
