I guess that even a small client update should be enough to break cheats hooks... Or a new server update is also necessary?
Client and server would be the one two punch and both of them are small enough and not that big of a deal to compile a new build once things get messy again.
In the good old Quake 3 day when id released a patch players and server operators jumped on it right away as everyone then knew that they will get at least a week of cheat free game play. It's more of a case of update and update often and player getting into the habit of checking.
In the mean time if someone spots a cheat report it but if history holds up the cheat makers usually wait for the current version to become stable.
