I used to play back during 2.6 and decided to play again for a while, but whenever i try to open ut_sands, the game crashes and I get this error in the console
Any idea how to fix it? I haven't found any other maps that do this, and already set com_hunkMegs to 384, so i don't get the hunk alloc fail for most maps.

Yeah, I'm sure it's that high, it says right in C:/Program Files/Quake III Arena/q3ut3/q3config.cfg
seta com_hunkMegs "384"
I even tried cranking it up to 512 (I have 768 total), but I still get the same error. Turned it down to 64, still same error. It's different than normal alloc errors because I get it before it starts loading weapons and skins.
I'm thinkin' maybe my copy of the map is bugged or something.

Shut down your server.
Try this settings in your Q3CONFIG.CFG:
seta com_hunkmegs "192"
seta com_zoneMegs "64"
seta com_soundMegs "32"
Make shure, the same settings are mentioned in the startstring, otherwise they maybe drop to "standard-settings"
Start server.
Test.
Come back and told us, how happy you are .
