hey,
i was hoping to use blender to play around with the some md3 files but can't seem to find a good plug-in with full support for the file format. What is the best way to edit md3 files? Knida want animation included.
thx,

Not if you only have the models for personal use, never redistribute them and don't try to play on real servers using your modified content. (Well the last one is more like about not cheating than it is about not violating terms.) Probably won't find anyone too interested in helping you modify the stuff even for personal use since they have no reason to be sure that that's all it would be used for.

If you just want to change the faces, you can eaisly do that with funstuff. I did a tattooed face as a funstuff a while back.

Well if you want to import an md3 there are a few scripts out there that will do the job. Just Google md3 import.
As for editing the file as in editing animation then that’s not really possible as md3 is a derivative format that contains point to point data. To be of any use you will need the original source file.

ok, cool will try that. how would i achieve that? I have a guess, change the head .tga files right?
Also can you make map models with blender? since i have blender and linux some of the other tools don't work on linux. Like making a couch for a room or something.

Sure you can use blender. Get it to export an .ase format model.
Grab the funstuff heads base models from here: http://ftp.snt.utwen...stuff_heads.zip
And my tattoo example here: http://homepages.man...zz_null_fun.pk3
You'll need to create a custom shader for the head so it renders correctly over the original, like this:
Just make sure you change the names of all the files you use, or you might cause some conflicts with the orignals.
