is it possible for a spectator to see nothing but thick dark smoke while the player sees silhouettes?

if it's possible, then it's most most likely happening! i noticed one too many good players(regulars) shooting in smoke without missing. i feel like a schmuck and nooooooooooob! for all the accusations and kicking i've caused.

this is horrible horrible news. =(

be aware that they may also have had Tacs on, though I doubt it.

Wallhacking is surprisingly popular because it's pretty easy to get away with it. There has even been a recent case at chill|Bomb server. Fortunately, while he did try to 'hide' it, once he started to be assaulted from behind he became desperate for kills and started to "just guess" where players are even if faking by "looking" at the wrong places sometimes, he almost always came back exactly as someone walked through the doorway... and did this like 10 times before I became tired of his 'perfect guesses' and started to spec him (and the doors, btw, were pretty far away, NO footsteps or breath were heard at all). I think he was kicked, not sure if banned, unfortunately. I hope 4.2 solves this issue.

The biggest problem with the above is that it required a lot of effort to even suspect him -- and he wasn't even a good wallhacker (he didn't hide it well). That's what I hope the anti-cheat in 4.2 will counter.

EDIT: I'm not sure how popular autoshoot is, but it's been suggested it's easy to get away with it too... I didn't even know you can have it without aimbot.

Yeah if I spot muzzle flash in a cloud I'll put my crosshair where it was last seen and if I don't see a teammates name pop up I'll will send a few round in and around just in case.

if they were wearing goggles you'd be looking through them as well when in spec.

and no.. no muzzle flash.

"if they were wearing goggles you'd be looking through them as well when in spec"

Im not sure that's true, are you? Ever spec'd someone using goggles like that? I haven't. I figure goggles are rendered client side and wouldn't be available to the spectator.

I do worry about being up against a good cheater though, I have "/ragequit" from a few games after getting my arse handed to me and can't be sure either way really. Some people are that good. I just go somewhere else if something doesn't feel right.

Yes it is true, and yes I am sure. Not that you were asking me or anything. 8-)
