Trash my custom confings? nevar.
System Spec:
Power Mac G4 (2.1)
Number of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.48f2
GeForce 4 Ti 4600
I just completely reformatted and reinstalled OSX about a week ago as per my yearly reformat. I am using the same copy (literally - copied it onto a backup firewire drive than recopied it onto the new OSX volume) of Q3 as before the reinstall though.

Open the q3config.cfg file with a text editor (BBedit for instance). The q3config.cfg file is in the
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Quake3/q3ut3/ folder.
Change these from their default values.
seta com_hunkMegs "256"
seta s_chunksize "4096"
Those settings could help your problem. BTW I would recommend you get more RAM. 1Gig or more is recommended and you will notice a small performance boost in OS X.

if you only have 512 of ram dont set your hunkmegs to 256. i would set them around the 112 - 128 mark, soundmegs to 32 and zonemegs to 24.
change values in multiples of 8. Remember that openGL uses 50-60 meg
and OSX uses some too.
what version of Urt are you running? this sounds like an older version problem like 2.5 and 2.6 days.
