I'm using 1280x1024 and I have almost everything else set to lowest and I still only get 75-80 FPS max.
I have an NEC monitor (not sure exactly what it is since I'm not at my house right now and won't be til tomorrow afternoon).
Yes, I'm running snow leopard and I just dragged and dropped your fix into the original file and replaced the old .app with the new one.
So is there any way to fix it? I really want a higher FPS, y'know.

Is it possible you have the max framerate set lower in the prefs?
I can't really think of much that would cause the problem you are having, but I'm not mitsubishi.
You can try playing with the SMP enabling settings in the game and see if that makes a difference for you.
I think it's r_smp

I've put max frames up to 125 several times and that just causes my FPS to fluctuate a ton, which is no good at all, because I like a constant FPS. I put it at 70 because it fluctuates anywhere from 10-73 but usually stays in that 70 range.
I'll try that r_smp when I get back to my UrT computer.
Is the cmd r_smp 1 and r_smp 0?

I turned smp on and I'm not getting 125 most of the time. However it drops to 60-70 whenever I meet another player in a fight. I think that I shouldn't be getting a drop this big? Any other ideas as to way to keep my fps high? I think I have a fast enough computer. Or maybe it is just that urt 4.1's q3 engine isn't optimized for mac?
I guess I'll keep waiting for 4.2, in that case.

If the most you get is 120-125 it's normal to drop a lot in action. What's important is why you get at most that. (Normally, to be perfectly stable on 125 you'd need at least 200FPS when testing it with /timedemo 1 on /devmap)
Check for other applications running getting CPU time, do other games run fine? Google for quirks.

ok. I tried devmap with /timedemo 1
I was getting anywhere from 60-280 fps (depending on where I was on the map).
I took a few screenshots of my CPU usage while playing UrT.... I'm not using much CPU or RAM on it. Is there anyway I could make UrT use more CPU and RAM? If I could would this make it have a higher FPS more often?

Whenever I try to use it the screen just goes black.
If i delete my Quake3 folder it works but after I apply my preferences it just goes black again. Help?
I am using an external monitor on a macbook pro laptop.
It works excellent before I apply my preferences lol

You might have other apps interfering, for example, VNCServer basically takes screenshots of the whole screen and sends them over the network.
Try turning everything off, one at a time to see if any of that makes any difference.
The fact that you are not CPU bound means that it's the graphics hardware which is having problems keeping up (generally speaking)
I suppose there could also be something limiting the amount of CPU the app is allowed to take.
