Most likely a daft question, but:

Having looked at the tag organisation, i had assumed that the 'main tag' is the tag that most of a clan use, and that the 'team A' is the premier/best team and 'team b' is the second team, but, assuming i have understood other clans's tags correctly it seems that the 'main tag' is being used for the premier teams.

Which way round is it?

I'd say it varies from clan to clan. For my clan we just have squad and trial members.

as far as the system in concerned, they are just 4 tags for use by your clan. However, it is expected that they are linked in some way.
