there's a nice long list of clans and website on the top of this forums, but it would be nice to have a separate overview of sites that provide rss-feeds for their news. i know a lot of the nuke-based ones do via backend.php, and i guess a lot of other cms'es have the functionallity built in or using addons.
so if YOUR site have a feed, please post it here
and, btw, the main feeds from www.urbanpixies.net are here:
[list]
News: http://www.urbanpixies.net/rss
Forums: http://www.urbanpixies.net/rss/forums
Files: http://www.urbanpixies.net/rss/pages[/list:u]
so how to use this feature?
well, you can either load the feeds in a dedicated aggregator-application on your desktop like:
http://www.feedreader.com/ (freeware for windows)
http://ranchero.com/netnewswire/ (mac - scroll down for the "light-version).
or you can use a free online service like http://www.bloglines.com/, that are quite nifty.
i have set up a minimal example-page that shows how it works at
http://www.bloglines...blic/tinkerbell.
and if you are a webmaster, you should be able to figure out how to pull the feeds from other sites to a sidebar or on a separate page on your website but that is beyond the scope of this post.
check the post below for a link that describes the various rdf-specs if you need to write a parser.
edit: i realized not everyone would know what to do with the feeds, so i added a few links
