Linux 64 bits - crash when started Rate Topic: -----

Hi,
First, thanks for this really good games (probably the best on Linux platform).
I recently reinstalled my laptop with a 64bit linux. (Mandriva 2010.2)
Previously, with the 32bits libraries and binary, all works perfectly... but now, it started, displayed the animated logo, and then a console with a prompt (then the only command I manage to launch is "exit"... ;-)
It seems it does'nt find some files (complete trace is below...)
Please help... I can't bear anymore to watch others play without me !

I've tried the optimized version and new version 4.1.1... and it's the same ! It crashes... PLEEAASSEE HEELLLPPP

you seem to be missing some files indeed.. are you sure you unpacked everything properly?

me too having this strange problem

Maybe it's only a 64bit linux version issue?

32 bit executable (ioUrbanTerror.i386) doesn't work on 64bit version of Ubuntu 11.04 :mad:

PARTIAL SOLUTION:

Use the 32 bit executable (ioUrbanTerror.i386) right after having installed the ia32-libs libraries.

You could get them searchin in the Ubuntu Software Center, in the search box type: ia32-libs :smile:
It may also be done via terminal, but I still suck at it :ohmy:

Also Synaptic should get the job done?

...I hope that the problem with 64 bit executable will be fixed...

EDIT: using the optimized exec (ioq3-urt) gives me this error message, whatever I choose when I'm prompted to use safe graphic mode (it ask it first before executing..)

recursive error after: R_LoadFragmentPrograms: Vertex shader program not found.. See /home/nichos/.q3a/q3ut4/crashlog.txt for details.

Im using 64bits and it works fine for me.

Also try to make sure you are using the proprietary drivers for your graphics card.

I'm using the latest proprietary drivers detected by ubuntu 11.04 64 bit, but still doesn't work, so I use the 32 bit exec.

my gc is a radeon mobility HD 5665

Hello all this is my first post here at the Forums.

I too am having this issue when trying to run the 64 bit version it just crashes, I Can however run the 32 bit version with the 64 bit operating system no problems, I am pretty sure I can run the x64 version not to brag but my specs are core i7 930, asus mobo, gtx 560 ti, 12 gigs of memory, creative fatal1ty pro pci-e sound card, I have installed the proprietary nvidia drivers, and I am running Ubuntu 11.04, are there any other packages I am missing to run the 64 bit version or any setting to change in the config file?

Also I have Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit on my laptop it's an older laptop with a 1.8ghz core duo (NOT core 2 duo)and intel gma 950 graphics with 3 gigs of ram, and when i run the game I can hear it but the screen i switches to 640x480, but the screen doesn't switch to the game it says on the desktop but I can't access the desktop, although i can hear the mouse go over the options in the Urban Terror menu but i can't see them.

There is an x64 build in the synaptic games directory, just look for it
never mind it stops downloading a while and i get an error message "md5sum failed"
seems like a broken mirror
