glxgears got a 60% increase, quake3 got a significant increase too, around 40%, or maybe better, I haven't tested it a lot to have an exact number.

How can I test "just X"? Oh well.. I never had any "speed issues" in just x windows anyway..

Ah yeah yeah, it was changed on the x config as you logically assumed.

But good idea to check some of those q3 options too, in connection to the x setting.

Here's a coincidence F for Fragging, I came across TODAY on google on a howto YOU've written. About logitech mice. I didn't read it because an "xmodmap" line on xinitrc was enough for me... but wow, what are the odds of that:-)

edit: hm, I see some info on responsiveness improvements maybe I should read it

I assume you mean the HOWTO's on linux-gamers.net? They are not my own idea, I just read those HOWTO's on other forums and I modified them a little bit. However, HOWTO's on forums will slip away from the top page of the forum to the archive pages, so after some time they can only be found with the search function. That's why I decided to e-mail them to linux-gamers.net so they have a more permanent place in the HOWTO section there.
